Acupuncture: What happens at the Initial Visit?
What happens at the Initial Visit?
At your first session your acupuncturist gathers all the information needed to make a diagnosis and give you a treatment. This first visit takes about one and one-half hours. During this time, the acupuncturist will ask you lots of questions to ascertain your energy patterns, take your pulses and look at your tongue. After this, you will receive your first acupuncture treatment. Follow-up visits will take from forty-five minutes to one hour.
If you are receiving an herbal consultation, it will be very similar, but will only take one hour, as you will not receive acupuncture at the end. Follow-up visits will take about thirty minutes.
Sometimes a condition is resolved in one or two treatments; sometimes it can take ten or more. It all depends on the length and severity of the imbalance.
